"Could do better"

We came for dinner on Saturday evening, we ordered starters neither of which were particularly tasty and the scallops were very small and by the time my partner had it confirmed that his choice was gluten free, his dish was cold. The mains were good and enjoyed by all of us however, none of them were not particularly warm and certainly not hot. Asked if the cheese board 'special' was gluten free and was told that it was not, checked again with the cheese board on the main menu and was advised that it was gluten free. Due to this, I would suggest that the food is average. Had not finished our 'experience' and were asked to move into the bar to allow other diners to be seated (there were other available tables and we had not been sat for even 2 hours) to receive our final drinks and invited to sit next to the 'roaring fire', this did not exist and we were sat next to a draughty window.
