"Not what we expected! "

I booked a table in the restaurant for my family to celebrate my daughter’s 50th birthday. We were told when we arrived that we had to eat in the Bistro as the restaurant wasn’t open that night! My daughter wanted to order a cocktail as it was her birthday only to be told they weren’t doing cocktails because there was a wedding on and everyone would want them if they saw us drinking them! I asked beforehand if they could do something special on the table for us as it was her 50th. When we arrived there wasn’t even a table cloth! Altogether we weren’t pleased at all and I was very disappointed as we were all looking forward to our night out. To top it off when we went out there was a poster saying celebrate your special occasion and come and have your birthday meal on us and receive your food free of charge. Wouldn’t it have been nice if this had been offered especially as I’ve didn’t get what I had booked. I actually booked about a month before the date so they could quite easily have contacted me beforehand to tell me of the changes. Altogether it wasn’t the night I had expected for my daughter! I would like an answer from you and your thoughts.
