"Review for Accommodation "

At the age of 80, and starting for the first time. to travel on my own I booked a room at the Bell to find that I had been given the equivalent of a tiny cottage separate from the hotel rooms. I felt somewhat isolated. The reception desk was not manned at the time of arrival, so I couldn’t discuss it then, nor was there any offer of help with luggage. However at a later date I mentioned my situation and the receptionist , certainly was very sympathetic and friendly and unfortunately to the hotel being full she said there was no chance of giving me an alternative room.
I was not completey upset by this but I want to mention a couple more items that I found inconvenient.
I could not find any general information on how and who to contact in case of emergency.
I am sure that I had read that there was 24 hr front desk. I came across a small card with a symbol on it telling me to scan for information. I am a little familiar with technology, but I’m sure there are some that are not. After taking a photo of it, up popped all that I wanted to know. But this way of receiving this information was I bit obscure for anyone lacking in technology know-how. And I discovered it , really just by chance.
Another niggle - sorry. - The door to the bedroom had a self closing system which made the door extremely difficult to open. Even my family when they visited agreed.
One more problem. There was no plug into which to plug the hairdryer which was near a mirror. The huge tv in the bedroom and a table in an awkward place made it impossible for me to reach a plug.
Despite all my winges, , the hotel is lovely, the food excellent , the rate for a single person very reasonable, and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would look at other hotels in this chain if this the typical standard. Just please iron out these few problems at The Bell for future guests.
