The Golden Fleece Hotel, Thirsk

"Great location, nice hotel, pleasant helpful staff."

Third time staying at the Golden Fleece. It is the best location to stay in Thirsk, with parking in the centre of town it makes life really easy. The hotel is comfortable and a pleasant environment. Inevitably the hotel is busy and does show some signs of wear and tear to be expected although I think the owners should keep on top of this to avoid an over worn look. The bathroom window is a sash type and there was no means to keep this open so had to revert to propping it with a shampoo bottle which I noticed another guest had also done. Providing a proper means to support the window in an open position would be useful on hot days and to alleviate steam.
All in all staff were mainly pleasant and helpful with just the odd mis-matched career choice for a couple of staff who clearly should not be involved in hospitality. That said there was no reason for complaint and we had a nice stay. The restaurant serves good tasty well presented fare albeit 3 or 4 options were unavailable on both nlevenings we ate. Only dissapointing if those were your preferred choice.
