The Royal Wells Hotel, Tunbridge Wells

"Dreadful food!"

We came for our 2nd visit to see if this is where we would like to spend Christmas Day with our family. The staff were lovely but the food was absolutely diabolical! We were the only ones in the restaurant & I am aware the chef “may” have been busy with some room service orders BUT crikey the food was awful. The plaice was so dry it looked like the bottom of a leather shoe. The fish with pasta was just the same & the pasta was so over cooked it was stuck together. The asparagus starter had more frozen peas than asparagus, the roast pork were clearly straight out of the freezer with “bullet’” potato. The whole meal was a disaster that cost almost £300 for 5 - it was, I’m so sorry to say just dreadful. If they can’t get it right for 5 adults how an earth will they get it right for a dining room full of people on Christmas Day. Such a shame as the setting is wonderful as are the staff.
