"Not good for big parties"

This review is in no way a reflection on the two staff who worked so hard and needed more support.
I booked online and had to chase up my booking for confirmation. Then I added on 3 more the day before which I asked if they could do.
It was a surprise 50th birthday and smaller menus were on the table. I was told this was due to the fact we hadn’t pre ordered. Nobody contacted me for my deposit or pre-order. I had to chase my own booking, the lady said she only deals with booking once a week.
Thankfully the vegetarians were able to order from the full menu.
They had run out of signature cocktails and courgettes. Food took over an hour, no table service for drinks. People had finished eating by the time the fish and chips came out. There was a long gap for all diners.
The plaice was inedible and it was the birthday parties’s order. The gentleman running the hotel thankfully sorted out free replacements.
The puddings took even longer and no knife was provided for the cake. We had to chase the puddings a couple of times.
During the meal we went up to order drinks but there was often nobody at the bar. There were only 4 other diners so it was evidently lack of staff.
