"A Day at the Races"

We booked this hotel for a two night stay, bed and breakfast, for eight people, to facilitate a day at Ripon Races. Really lovely hotel and approx 11 miles from racecourse. Booked a minibus service to get us to the races and back - Town Travel - which was an excellent service and very reasonable.
Breakfast at the hotel was great, plenty of choices and good quality food and service.
We had booked to eat in the restaurant both nights of our stay but ultimately only ate there on the first night as we weren’t impressed with the food served. We did express our disappointment to the manager and our wish to cancel our reservation for the following evening. He said he was sorry we hadn’t enjoyed the food and suggested we leave the reservation pending whilst he considered if there was anything he could do for us and he would come back to us the next day. However, despite ample opportunity, the manager didn’t revert to any of our party, hence we dined elsewhere on our second evening.
We would therefore thoroughly recommend the hotel for bed and breakfast but our evening dining experience fell short of our expectations and the Manager’s dismissive attitude fell even shorter!
