The Swan Hotel, Stafford

"A real Treat"

We booked a couple of nights at The Swan whilst attending the Spring Bonhams Motorbike auction. We were warmly welcomed and check in went smoothly. The room was lovely. Spotlessly clean and everything we could wish for…chocolate, biscuits, tea, coffee, hairdryer and ironing board and iron. We slept well despite a noisy Friday and Saturday night with people having too good a time outside in the early hours. That’s no fault of anyones. Breakfast was superb. Lots to choose from and a cooked breakfast freshly cooked to order. Dinner was very good. The staff are absolutely brilliant. So friendly and happy to be helpful. Always friendly and chatty whilst working hard. Special mention to Callum who served breakfast on our last morning. He was working alone and was busy. Not once did his smile slide or patience slip. Well done Callum! Also thank you to the lovely lady on reception who managed to fit us in for an extra night. We really appreciated it.
Can I make a constructive criticism? It’s a small thing in some ways but wouldn’t half make life easier. By coincidence we had a short break in Cornwall in early April. In the shower there, were the same pump action shampoo, conditioner and shower gel containers as at The Swan but in Cornwall they were placed in a bracket attached to the shower wall. Here at The Swan they are on the shelf next to the washbasin so you have to take them into the shower and there’s nowhere to put them but on the floor of the shower. You’re then soaking wet, trying to pick up the container and end up resting it on your thigh, or clutching it between your legs and depressing the pump … not easy with wet hands. So much easier when the containers are eye level in the shower and you just depress the pump. I hope you can visualise what I’m trying to say. I found it really awkward bending down to try and pick up containers with wet hands and an arthritic hip. I don’t think it would be an expensive thing to do but as I say, boy would life be easier! Thank you so much The Swan. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you and hope to return ourselves in the future.
