The Swan Hotel, Wells

"Overnight stay."

Positioned ideally in the centre with a short walk to the beautiful Cathedral & grounds. The hotel itself was clean, but looked tired in places ie carpeting and old style bathrooms. We were not offered a drinks menu for our dinner and ordered a glass of wine each. On payment this wine amounted to just shy of £20! The price of drinks were on display in the bar; these also seemed extortionist, eg a tot of the cheapest whiskey was £4.60; that would work out at approx £129 for a 0.7l bottle, costing around £25 from a retailer. On the plus side, the food was good; the staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and parking was convenient for hotel guests.
