"Fabulous stay but some problems with food service. Very rare at The Swan"

We liked our rooms. We had three booked including the Cathedral Suite ( wonderful suite. Just an amazing experience to stay in that) The others were great too but the first one we tried had a leaking ceiling unit that had soaked the floor and toilet below so we had to move that room. Meant repacking but staff were so kind helping transfer of room.
We had lunch on our second day but , it took ages and one course was inedible ( cauliflower bites on noodles) which is unheard of in the 30 years I’ve been staying at The Swan. The staff were great and realised it wasn’t up to scratch but it did mean that one of our party ate nothing for lunch as the timings were already stretched as it took ages to deliver the food. They gave us a free drink each later which was lovely.
The main problem we faced was breakfast on our second morning ( May15th) We arrived at 9am as booked but didn’t get any hot food until 9.55 am. I think the chef may have been ill but if someone had just come and apologised or even said Sorry , it will be later this morning, we would have felt better and understood As it was we just sat there watching an obviously stressed staff team trying to cope with a busy dining room.
The rest of our experience was really excellent. We will return. Without doubt, and the staff and service is generally excellent. It was a shame that this time was less successful than previous visits. We booked the Cathedral Suite as it was a special birthday and that didn’t disappoint. Thankyou
