The Swan Hotel, Wells

"Erratic service"

We booked a meal at The Swan .
as we were staying nearby.
Starting with a pre dinner drink in the bar we were surprised to find that a service charge had been added for 2 drinks!
We queried the reason for this… the barman removed the charge.
Going through to the restaurant and giving our order for
Olives with drinks, followed by the meal
1. The Olives failed to appear
2. We were brought 2 meals we hadn’t ordered
3. A request for a glass of wine failed to materialise and had to be reordered
4. The Olives finally came and they were very nice
5.Our meals came and were very nice
as was the dessert
6.The bill was delivered before we had finished drinking, it included a service charge of 10% , which we asked to be removed as the service had been so erratic.
The restaurant was very quiet, so the staff were hardly rushed off their feet
