The Swan Hotel, Wells

"Lovely stay, pity about Sunday Lunch!!!"
Had a lovely room, staff pleasant & helpful. Evening meals super - especially the affogato! Breakfast a bit disappointing,at 7.30a.m. the bacon was a bit leathery and the fried egg yolks were solid. But the big disappointment was Sunday lunch, I'd booked it as a treat after attending the Sunday service at the Catheral, doing the traditional English Sunday! I'd suggest the chef look at the A board in front of the hotel as the meal I was served was about as far from that as you could get; I ordered the pork, I was served with a plate of large mounds of mushy vegetables, soggy yorkshire pudding, very uncrispy roast (!) potatoes and two slices of thin dry pork! Couldn't figure out if the chef was having a day off or an off-day. An unfortunate end to what had been a lovely holiday!
